The Philadelphia 76ers had no answer for LeBron James during their recent matchup.
After losing against the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers bounced back on their road trip with a win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
More importantly, it was the LeBron James show for the Purple and Gold. James silenced his critics with an incredible 29-point effort.
What moves do the LA Lakers need to make to win the NBA title?
For the 76ers, rookie VJ Edgecombe had another stellar outing, scoring 15 points in 38 minutes. Edgecombe also had a superfan moment with LBJ after the game.
VJ Edgecombe says LeBron James is the ‘only reason’ he started playing basketball
With James about to turn 41 years old soon, it’s obvious that there are active NBA players who idolized his game during their respective childhoods.
76ers’ Edgecombe is certainly one of them as the 20-year-old reflected on getting a chance to exchange jerseys with the Lakers star.
“I’m still a kid, to be honest. That is my favorite player growing up, the only reason I started playing basketball. So to get his jersey means a lot to me, but I wanted to win,” Edgecombe told the media.
He added: “It would’ve felt much better if we won and then I got his jersey.”
While Edgecombe didn’t end up on the winning side, he still witnessed vintage James, who went off for 12 points in the fourth quarter and crushed the 76ers’ chances of winning the game.
Can LeBron James still save his poor start to his 23rd NBA season?

VJ Edgecombe drops ‘greatest player of all time’ praise on LeBron James
Edgecombe further talked about playing against the 4x NBA champion and also hailed him as ‘arguably’ the GOAT.
“It is how it is every game, to be honest. And then obviously, playing against arguably the greatest player of all time, it’s definitely surreal.
“But it’s basketball at the end of the day, when the ball gets thrown in the air, it’s just basketball,” Edgecombe stated.
If LBJ stays healthy, Edgecombe will get another chance to play against the King as the 76ers will travel to LA for their Feb 05, 2026, matchup against the Lakers.
Will the rookie get a dub against the GOAT? Only time will tell.
