Wales rugby legend Adam Jones reveals health issue led to 4 stone weight loss

Prop ‘Bomb’ told the Danny Care podcast exactly how he managed to lose the weight

Wales rugby legend Adam ‘Bomb’ Jones has explained how a health issue has caused him to lose massive of weight. The 44-year-old Wales and the British & Irish Lions prop was appearing on the Hits Different with Danny Care podcast – and explained to the host how he’d managed to shift the pounds.

Many ex-players, especially forwards, are prone to putting on a few pounds – but ‘Bomb’ said he’d put it on and managed to lose it, after having issues with gout. On the podcast, the presenter, former England scrum half, Danny, noticed Adam was looking somewhat more svelte than before.

The episode saw ‘Bomb’ cooking a mixed grill while answering ‘rugby’s toughest questions’, and Danny said: “You are what you are, Bomb.” To which Adam replied: “A morbidly obese man.”

However, Danny disagreed and said: “You know we’re two big bits of kit and we need to eat protein. You’re a very slimmed-down version, I must say.” Adam, who won 95 caps for Wales, said: “I’m trying, I’m trying.”

Danny asked how much he’d lost, and Adam replied: “A lot. Somewhere between 25 and 27 kilos.” It prompted a round of applause. Danny said: “That is unbelievable. You do look really good.”

Couch to 5K is a simple, NHS free running plan for absolute beginners. The NHS says: “It’s perfect if you want to get moving but don’t know where to start. The plan has you running 3 times a week, with rest days in between and a fresh schedule to follow each week.

“By the end, you’ll be running 5K with confidence, no matter your starting fitness level or when you last exercised.”

It starts gradually and builds up without causing people to do too muc too soon. For more information click here.
