Waqar Younis handed this important responsibility in Pakistan cricket

The leader of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, is thinking about choosing former team leader Waqar Younis to be the person in charge of cricket activities. Someone close to the board told PTI that Naqvi is following what other countries do and wants a past player to take care of all cricket things. “Waqar Younis is a great choice to be given the job of managing men’s cricket, including talking with the two foreign main coaches, the people who pick the teams, and the groups that play in Pakistan,” the person said.

The person also said that the PCB leader wants to give the former fast bowler full control to manage men’s cricket as the director, and some tasks might also be done by other former players.

“Naqvi prefers to spread out power rather than keeping it all in one place, particularly when it comes to cricket matters. He plans to have the cricket director handle even international cricket schedules and related issues in the future,” he mentioned.

The source also said that currently, Naqvi is concentrating on getting ready to host the Champions Trophy, dealing with tournament-related matters, and making other administrative choices for the board.

As the federal interior minister, Naqvi thinks it’s right for experts, not just administrators, to manage cricket issues, the source said.

The cricket director would be able to choose former players to help, according to the source.

Younis, 52, who lives in Australia with his family, has been Pakistan’s head coach and bowling coach before. He is still ready to help the national team.
