Waqar Younis likely to take this new responsibility in the Pakistan cricket team

Renowned fast bowler Waqar Younis is expected to take on the role of Chief Cricket Officer (CCO) at the Pakistan Cricket Board. He has recently started working with the PCB as a temporary advisor to the chairman on cricket matters. A knowledgeable source revealed that Waqar has been hired for a paid role, not as an advisor. “Currently, he is titled as an advisor to the chairman on cricket affairs. However, a role similar to Rob Key’s position in the English cricket board is being designed for him and will be approved by the Board of Governors,” the source explained.

The source also mentioned that once Waqar assumes his new role, he will be part of the national selection committee and will handle matters related to central contracts.

He mentioned that Waqar had agreed to become an advisor but wanted to first adjust to his new position on the board.

He has been working with different departments to understand all aspects of cricket, such as international and local schedules, planning, and strategies for upcoming international matches and tests.

The fast bowler, who has served as both the bowling coach and head coach for the Pakistan team multiple times, agreed to join the PCB after moving from Australia to Lahore with his family.
