Warriors sit alone in first place after snapping Sacred Heart’s five-game winning streak

Kevair Kennedy poured in 21 points as Merrimack pulled away for a 75-58 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday, snapping the Pioneers’ five-game winning streak.

Kennedy stuffed the stat sheet with seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals for the Warriors (14-9, 10-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Tye Dorset added 16 points, while Ernest Shelton finished with 13.

The result, coupled with Saint Peter’s loss to Rider, left the Warriors alone atop the MAAC standings at 10-2. Siena and Saint Peter’s sit one game back at 9-3.

Merrimack also remained perfect on its home floor this season, improving to 8-0.

The Warriors now head out on the road, opening a two-game trip at Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday night before visiting Rider on Saturday
