WATCH- Bangladeshi Fan Assault Allegations: Hospitalized because he ‘Fell ill’

A Bangladeshi cricket fan was sent to hospital as he was ‘falling ill’ during the 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on September 27. This incident was suspected to be a case of assault at first, since he indicated being involved in a physical quarrel.
Self-claimed super fan Roby, who dresses as a tiger and appears regularly in his team’s games, had to be carried out of the stadium in a state of distress.

During a brief interaction with the media, Roby indicated that he was punched in his abdomen. However, a statement issued by the hospital bed later stated that he was simply not feeling well and was given proper assistance by the police.

“I fell ill and the police brought me to the hospital. Now I am feeling much better. My name is Roby and I have come from Bangladesh,” he stated in a short video clip.

Kalyanpur ACP, Abhishek Pandey said Roby got immediate medical care and stated he had not been in any sort of physical assault as alleged.

“During the Test match between India and Bangladesh, one of the spectators whose name is Tiger, suddenly fell ill,” the officer stated.

“There were some reports of assault but these are baseless, no such incident happened with him. He might have taken a fall, this is what we have been able to gather,” he added.

“As he came out of the stands, he was wincing in pain and seemed to be fainting. He was given a chair to sit but he fell,” the official said.
