The Southern Brave secured a commanding victory over the Welsh Fire, winning by 42 runs and solidifying their position at the top of the points table of The Hundred Men’s 2024. In contrast, the Welsh Fire’s performance leaves them in fifth place on the points table, and they are still struggling to find consistency.

The game saw a memorable moment in the 91st ball of the second innings when Tymal Mills took the crucial wicket of David Willey. Willey, having scored a brisk 21 off 14 balls with four fours, attempted to clear the long-on boundary but found himself caught by Kieron Pollard. After taking the catch with ease, Pollard gave a playful, sarcastic glance at the crowd, who had been vocally hoping for him to drop it. Pollard’s funny interaction with the spectators added a touch of humor to an otherwise intense game.

Southern Brave leads the points table

The Southern Brave set a solid foundation with their 139-run total. James Vince was the highest run-scorer  for his side with 73 runs in 50 balls. In response, Braves disciplined bowling and fielding restricted the Welsh Fire to 97 runs, with the help of brilliant bowling display from Tymal Mills who took 4 wickets in his 20 deliveries.

Vince’s commanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

With this victory, the Brave have extended their winning streak to three consecutive matches, demonstrating their dominance in the competition, strengthening their hold on the top spot in the points table.
