Former Pakistani cricket player Shoaib Akhtar congratulated Arshad Nadeem for winning the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin throw at the Paris Olympics on August 8. He did this through a special video shared on his official social media account. Akhtar praised Arshad’s victory and admired him for achieving this on such a significant and large international platform like the Olympics, entirely through his own abilities. Arshad secured the gold on Thursday by breaking the Olympic record with his best throw of the day, which was 92.97 meters.

In his video, Akhtar shared stories of people who, according to him, played a major role in Arshad’s historic win at the Paris Olympics. He explained how these individuals helped Arshad with his treatment and surgery, which in turn allowed the Javelin star to prepare for his Olympic competition.

“Suddenly, this brave athlete has brought Pakistan a gold medal. Arshad, you are amazing! You did this all by yourself, through your own hard work and talent. We are all very happy for you, Arshad, and for everyone in Pakistan. Just one gold medal has made the whole country feel better. Thanks to you, Arshad, Pakistan is now known all over the world,” Akhtar said in his video.

“There’s a story behind Arshad Nadeem’s success, involving Rizwan and a national hospital. Rizwan helped Arshad get treatment and even had his surgery, not just in Pakistan, but also sent him to England. And now, Arshad has won the gold medal. We are so proud of you, Arshad. This isn’t just about one gold medal. Pakistan sent 7 athletes and now has one gold medal from them. Great job. You achieved something no one thought possible. You broke the Olympic record, and each throw you made went almost beyond 90 meters,” Akhtar added.

Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra, who was a star in the Tokyo Olympics, couldn’t win another gold medal this time. However, the 26-year-old made history by winning a silver medal in his event with his best throw of 89.45 meters. Arshad Nadeem had a rough start with an invalid throw, but he later secured his position at the top with his best throw of the competition.
