“We have seen this happening with Imran khan…”Former Pakistani legend makes a strange comparison between Babar Azam and Imran khan

Despite his ongoing rough phase, Babar Azam is still highly regarded in his country, says former cricketer Basit Ali from Pakistan. Off-field, Babar’s activities often steal the limelight on social media platforms, aside from what happens during the matches. According to him, this is evidence that he is truly a star. In recent matches, it has been hard for Babar to show his complete game. His performance in the last test series against Bangladesh was poor as he managed only to score 64 runs over both games played. The star cricketer from Pakistan has continued to maintain great popularity beyond doubt according to Ali.

“Babar has not been scoring runs at all but wherever he goes people keep capturing those moments on their cameras and TVs. This is when he is out of form. There’s one Babar Azam and all the rest are simply players in shadows of greatness. Every single action of his is recorded and played on television,” Basit explained in a recent video on YouTube.

Basit Ali made a comparison between Babar Azam’s fans and that of former captain Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to clinch the World Cup in 1992. “He(Babar) has the largest fan club in Pakistan. We have seen this happening with Imran Khan as well because when he used to enter into any ground everyone would just chant his name loudly. And now look at Babar Azam; in Faisalabad everybody goes crazy for him” Said 53 years old.

So recently during the practice match held at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad, loud cheers welcomed Babar Azam which proves Basit Ali right. This was just before Babar left for Champions One Day cup where he would be representing Mohammad Haris’ Stallions as their captain on this occasion.

The video went viral on social media recently showing Babar Azam walking out of the dressing room while cheerful chants were being uttered. The fans present at the stadium went completely berserk after they recognized the famous cricketer on the balcony. Babar along with Stallions will take on Shahid Afridis Lions on September 13th that will be their first match in Champions One-Day Cup.

Babar Azam would want to make a point in the domestic tournament. His recent international performances have been poor. In his last 16 Test innings, he has not scored more than 50 runs.
