West Indies batter Keacy Carty gets maiden call-up for the T20I series against Bangladesh, to be played from December 15 to December 19 in St. Vincent. He has played ODIs and Tests before and had won his place through impressive knocks, including an ODI century against England. Carty’s selection goes in line with his emergence as a reliable middle-order batter.

Along with Carty, the West Indies side will have the services of fit-again Johnson Charles for the T20I series. Experience will surely help the team in terms of momentum ahead of further tournaments. The side, though, will miss big-ticket players such as Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford, who are likely to be in Australia representing their respective sides in the Big Bash League. Akeal Hosein, for the last T20I, will not be present in the playing XI; his place will be taken by Jayden Seales.

The three-match series will serve as a significant preparation for the team ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Head coach Daren Sammy stated that the continuity factor was crucial in the selection of the squad. “Keacy Carty has shown us that he could be a batter in this format,” said Sammy. “He is part of our plans for the future, and playing against Bangladesh, we need all hands on deck.”

The West Indies will bank on a strong mix of experience and emerging talent for this T20I series. Rovman Powell will captain the team, while Brandon King will be his vice-captain. The other two debutants, Terrance Hinds and Shamar Springer, remain in the squad, enhancing the depth of the side.
