West Indies’ Chinelle Henry hit on face in Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final clash [WATCH]

West Indies star Chinelle Henry copped a blow straight to her face during the semi-final match against New Zealand in Sharjah.

The incident occurred during the 12th over of New Zealand’s innings. Deandra Dottin was the bowler and Amelia Kerr’s aerial hit went straight to long-on where Henry was stationed.

Attempting the catch, the ball burst through her hands and hit her flush on the face. Henry went down in a heap immediately with medical staff and players rushing to her aid. Scary scenes saw Henry sprawled along the ground with the medical staff tending to her.

She was taken off the field soon as play resumed in Sharjah. An update on her injury is awaited.

In the match, New Zealand opted to bat first with the openers putting on a solid stand. West Indies clawed their way back into the game with wickets through the middle overs.

West Indies have played the final once in 2016, going on to win the title then. New Zealand were finalists in the first two editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup, but finished second best on both occasions.

In the first semi-final, South Africa stunned six-time champions Australia to reach their second final in as many years.
