WEST SPRINGFIELD ― A new scam involving callers claiming to be West Springfield police officers has prompted warnings for residents to protect their personal and financial information.
In a statement Friday, the West Springfield Police Department said residents can protect themselves and their money by remembering that the department never asks for donations by phone or email. Officers will not call residents to request money, gift cards or wire transfers, police said.
