The first-ever ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in the UAE from October 3 to October 20 with Bangladesh aborting its hosting gig. Given the political disturbance in Bangladesh, the ICC decided to shift it to the UAE.
Venues for the T20 World Cup 2024 – Dubai and Sharjah Stadiums
The tournament would begin with a Group B match between Bangladesh and Scotland in Sharjah, the same day that Pakistan will face Sri Lanka. Fans have always waited for the Group A main event, which pitted arch-rivals India and Pakistan against each other, on October 6 in Dubai. The last match scheduled for October 20 will also take place at Dubai International Stadium, which has a capacity to seat up to 25,000 spectators.
DIS will host 12 matches in this tournament, which has a history of memorable matches- Pakistan’s famous 10-wicket win over India in the 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup, for instance. Sharjah Cricket Stadium, famed for holding the most ODIs around the world with a capacity of 16,000, will host 11 matches, including the second semi-final on October 18.
Being that the two have had stern matches in previous editions of the men’s World Cup, the Women’s T20 World Cup is all set for full-throttle rivalry, promising energetic matches and thrilling fireworks.
