Carlos Alcaraz’s astonishing start to the 2026 season continued as he lifted yet another trophy in Qatar.
Alcaraz dominated Arthur Fils in the Dubai final as he dropped just three games in a 50-minute massacre to continue his unbeaten streak in 2026.
The world number one is now 12-0 this year, having won his first titles at the Australian Open and Qatar back to back.
Alcaraz’s sensational start to the season has seen him achieve a feat that took him until April to hit in 2025.
Carlos Alcaraz’s phenomenal start to 2026
Alcaraz had a relatively slow start to 2025, which brought him one ATP 250 and 500 title in the first four months of the year.
The Spaniard’s start to 2026 has already outstripped that and Alcaraz has already collected more ranking points with his first two tournaments than it took him until April of 2025.
Alcaraz has banked 2500 ranking points from winning the Australian Open and the Qatar Open in his first two events of the year, as he continues his stranglehold on the world number one spot.
In contrast, Alcaraz only collected 2410 ranking points from his first six tournaments of 2025, so he is already in a better position this year.
The star needed the Australian Open, Rotterdam, Qatar Open, Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo to reach that number last term.
Considering that was without Jannik Sinner’s presence on the ATP Tour, Alcaraz should be very pleased with his start to the season.
The world number one will now take a mini-break until the Sunshine Double of Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
Carlos Alcaraz’s incredible lead over Jannik Sinner after the Qatar Open
After his three-month ban from the ATP at the beginning of 2025, Sinner was in the driving seat to put pressure on Alcaraz’s world number one position.
The star is not defending any points from the Australian Open to the Italian Open, which makes Alcaraz’s start to the season even more impressive.
Alcaraz has added another 300 point gap on Sinner after the Qatar Open, taking his lead to a whopping 3150 points.
The Spaniard lost in the Indian Wells semi-final to Jack Draper in 2025, which you’d expect him to at least match in his current form.
Sinner, meanwhile, has never reached past the semi-finals of Indian Wells, so Alcaraz could have another chance to extend his gap at the top.
