Bazball is a cricket term that was initiated by the England Cricket team in early 2022. But why Bazball you may ask, well, Bazbell is based upon the New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum’s nickname Baz, and the other half of the term replicates his aggressive approach to the game. To sum it up, as Brendon McCullum was appointed as the Test Head Coach for the English side in May 2022, the English players decided to name his style of approach to the game “Bazball“. How Bazball Changed Traditional Cricket?
Team England was losing tests under Joe Root’s captaincy until the board decided to hire Brendon McCullum as the Head Test Coach and replace Root with Stoke as the Test Captain. The team had seen a sudden positive change under this new leadership, in the year 2022 after Brendon McCullum’s arrival they had played 10 tests and won 9 of them.
This showcased how Brendon has had a positive influence on the team, and how his aggressive approach in the red-ball cricket was a success. But with underwhelming performances in their recent tests, how will Bazball affect England’s white-ball approach?
Will England Stick with Bazball?
Bazball had given the England team their style of play in the 2022 year, but as we progressed, their performances in tests were getting struck with average performances. With 1 Test series win in the year 2023 and 3 Test series win in the year 2024.
