What will happen if it rains during the IPL 2025 Final?
The IPL 2025 is bound to take place tomorrow which is the 3rd of June, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Both the teams Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings will be determined to end their title drought. What will happen if it rains during the IPL 2025 final? Who will be crowned the winner?
Will IPL 2025 Final be washed out?
The IPL 2025 final could be rain affected, according to the local weather departments and weather forecasts. Reports say the forecast predicts cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas, especially around Ahmedabad. The temperature is expected to hover near 37°C.
This is the first IPL final for either team to potentially lift their maiden title, RCB have been runners-up for three times, while PBKS last reached the final in 2014. The Final match for IPL 2025 was originally set for Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on June 25 but was shifted to Ahmedabad due to anticipated monsoon rainfall.
A similar situation occurred during Qualifier 2 on June 1, which was delayed by over two hours because of rain. Ahmedabad also hosted the rain-hit 2023 IPL final, which was pushed to the reserve day. Rain shortened that match to 15 overs in the second innings. Weather could once again be a decisive factor in this year’s final as well.
What could the scenarios be?
Currently the scenarios depend on the rain, if there is no rain, the match goes uninterrupted. However if the rain strikes, it well depend on the density to what extent the match will be stopped, if it exceeds the 2-hour mark, the final match might resume on the next reserve day.
And if the reserve day is the hit by rain as well, there can be another reserve day or another location or else the team with the best league record will be crowned the champions, who will be the Punjab Kings, as they topped the points table.
