What’s next for Renato Moicano and Chris Duncan after UFC Vegas 115?

The UFC was at the Apex on Saturday for UFC Vegas 115. In the main event, lightweight contenders threw down as Renato Moicano took on Chris Duncan in an intriguing fight.

Heading into the fight, Moicano was coming off back-to-back losses to Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev for the belt. Duncan, meanwhile, was riding a four-fight winning streak and was set for his first UFC main event.

Ultimately, it was Moicano who scored a second-round submission win as he pulled off the upset and sent a statement to the lightweight division. Following UFC Vegas 115, here is what I think should be next for the lightweight contenders.

Renato Moicano

Renato Moicano was being written off entering UFC Vegas 115, but he ended up turning back the clock to get a submission win over Chris Duncan. It was a great performance from the Brazilian, who proved he’s still a top-15 lightweight contender.

Following the win, Moicano should get a big fight next time out, as he’s entertaining on the mic and in the cage. A logical next bout is to face Dan Hooker, as the two have taken shots at one another for quite some time. It can be a Fight Night main event or be a main card opener on a numbered card, in what should be a thrilling fight for however long it lasts.

Chris Duncan

Chris Duncan had a chance to enter the top-10 at lightweight at UFC Vegas 115, but he fell short against Renato Moicano. Duncan struggled with Moicano’s grappling and striking, en route to being submitted in the second round.

With the loss, Duncan is back to the drawing board, and he will likely get an unranked opponent next. He should face the winner of Alexander Hernandez vs. Rafa Garcia, which takes place later this month. Regardless of who wins, it would be a fun fight, and the winner could get a ranked opponent next.
