Who Are The Leading Contenders?

The 2026 Masters returns to Augusta National Golf Club from April 9-12 with the 90th edition set to feature another epic battle for the green jacket.

Augusta will again provide a par 72 in the year’s first major, but this year the course measures 7,565 yards after the 17th hole was lengthened by 10 yards.

With defending champion Rory McIlroy back to try to go back-to-back and Scottie Scheffler the pre-tournament market leader, the Masters betting board is stacked with proven major winners and elite ball-strikers.

The top two players in the world will go up against LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm is a stacked field, although there will be no Tiger Woods in action.

Leading 2026 Masters Contenders

Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler is the favourite to add to his 2022 and 2024 Masters wins, and it is easy to see why given his elite tee-to-green game and comfort on demanding setups like Augusta.

The world number one’s combination of length, control and consistency makes him the benchmark for the field once again.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy returns as defending champion after finally completing the career Grand Slam in 2025, and Augusta has long been one of his best venues.

If his iron play and putting cooperate, he has every chance to repeat success with the monkey now off his back.

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau sits near the top of the board and brings one of the most explosive profiles in the game – and winning form in LIV Golf this year.

Augusta can still punish mistakes, but his length and improving major-championship form make him a serious threat having gone close last year.

Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm has been one of the biggest movers in the market and is capable of contending on any course, as shown by his consistency in LIV Golf.

Rahm’s short game and ability to handle pressure are ideal traits for Augusta National, a place where he earned his first green jacket in 2023.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg’s ball-striking keeps him firmly in the elite tier of contenders and if he gets hot on and around Augusta’s greens can quickly become part of the Sunday conversation.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele is another proven major performer who fits Augusta well with his all-round game. He usually gives himself plenty of chances, and that profile travels well in Masters week.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood’s steady tee-to-green play and control in the wind make him a strong Augusta fit. He may not overpower the course, but his precision keeps him firmly in the mix.
