Who will lead India in ODI series against Sri Lanka: After the much-awaited victory in the T20 WC, the Indian team is ready to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI and T20 I series starting from 27th July. However, after the successful campaign regular skipper Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T2OI format, and now his position of skipper is vacant in the shortest format of the game.
Recently Jay Shah confirmed that Rohit will continue to lead India in ODI and Test formats but after the successful T20 campaign, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah have all been requested to take a rest. They will mostly come back into the squad for the test series against Bangladesh.
Now with the skipper position vacant, two names are popping up. The wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul and allrounder Hardik Pandya both are in competition to become the new skipper of the Indian team. While it is safe to believe that Hardik will mostly lead the T20I series and Rahul will mostly take care of the ODI format.

Who Will Be the New Skipper of the India Cricket Team
Now with the arrival of the new head coach Gautham Gambhir, we may see changes in the style of play and the approach towards the game will also be changed with the arrival of a new coach. We will have to wait for some time before the new coach decides on the captaincy part. As of now Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are leading the race to become the next captains of the Indian cricket team.
Hardik has already led Team India in three ODI’s, but Rahul has led 12 times in ODI’s when compared to Hardik Pandya. That’s why it is understood that the ODI format will be given to KL Rahul until Rohit Sharma is back, while Hardik Pandya will look after the T20i series as he has pretty good experience in the shorter format.
