Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets in a close game at Mullanpur on March 31.
Punjab chased down 165 in 19.1 overs, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock from debutant Cooper Connolly.
GT Set 162 After Solid Start
After winning the toss, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first. Gujarat Titans scored 162/6, with Shubman Gill making 39 off 27 balls and Jos Buttler adding 38 off 33.
Punjab bowlers controlled things well in the second half. Vijaykumar Vyshak picked 3/34, while Yuzvendra Chahal took 2/28 and removed both set batters.
A stunning catch by Xavier Bartlett to dismiss Buttler gave PBKS a big lift.
Connolly Leads the Chase
Punjab Kings got a strong start in the chase. Debutant Cooper Connolly played a match-winning knock of 72 not out off 44 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes.
Prabhsimran Singh supported him with 37 off 24, and the pair added 76 runs for the second wicket.
Match Turns With Sudden Collapse
The game changed quickly when PBKS collapsed from 110/2 to 118/6 in just 15 balls.
Prasidh Krishna brought Gujarat back with a strong spell of 3/29, removing key batters including Iyer and Marcus Stoinis.
PBKS Hold Nerve to Win
With pressure building, Connolly stayed calm till the end. He finished the match with a boundary off Washington Sundar, helping Punjab Kings win with five balls left.
PBKS ended at 165/7 to seal a thrilling victory.
