For those unversed, Hindi has been given the status of the official language in the Constitution of India. It is not our national language. People of India celebrate September 14 as Hindi Diwas, as Hindi was given the status of official language by the Central Government. 43.63 percent of the Indian population speaks in Hindi according to the census of 2011.
