Mumbai Indians have received a massive boost ahead of their high-octane clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru — Jasprit Bumrah is back in the mix! The ace pacer joined the MI squad on Sunday, April 6, at the Wankhede Stadium, bringing hope and excitement to a team that’s been desperate for momentum. So Let’s take a look at Will Bumrah play against RCB?.

Though his return to the squad is official, fans might need to wait just a bit longer to see him back in action. Bumrah is unlikely to feature in the April 7 showdown but could make his long-awaited comeback in MI’s sixth fixture of the season, when they take on Delhi Capitals on April 13.

The 31-year-old speedster has been recovering from a back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Since then, he’s been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru following surgery. His absence was felt not just in the ongoing IPL season but also during India’s victorious Champions Trophy campaign and the England white-ball series.

Bumrah’s stats in the IPL are a testament to his legendary status. Since debuting for MI in 2013, he’s played 133 matches and scalped 165 wickets, becoming a pillar of their bowling attack. The only season he missed? 2023, due to the same nagging back issue.

Mumbai Indians have certainly felt his absence this season. With just one win from four games — a solitary triumph at home against Kolkata Knight Riders — the five-time champions have stumbled against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants, though.

Looking beyond the IPL, Team India will soon be heading to England for a five-match Test series. Bumrah’s presence there will be crucial — he’s been a proven match-winner on English soil, bagging 37 wickets in nine Tests at an average of 26.22, including two five-wicket hauls. A fully fit Bumrah could be the difference-maker.

While he might not take the field against RCB, Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the MI camp is a clear signal: the comeback is loading. And when it happens, expect fireworks.
