Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has yet not announced if he will be putting his hands up or if he will return to play another season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 2024 season of IPL was supposed to be the last season for Dhoni, but he has not announced anything in the past few months.
The rules of retention also were changed which allow Dhoni to play as an uncapped player, considering he hasn’t played international cricket since the semifinals of 2019 ODI World Cup. Even CSK officials don’t know about Dhoni’s decision, but an announcement is on the way.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Dhoni is set to meet CSK officials in Mumbai to tell them about his decisions.
CSK can retain Dhoni for as low as Rs. 4 crore since he is now perceived as an uncapped player. There are categories for capped players on the other hand as well. The highest is Rs. 18 crore, followed by Rs. 14 crore and Rs. 11 crore. Players will get a fee of Rs. 7.5 lakh match for the IPL 2025.
