Historically, 16 points almost guarantee a playoff spot. A slip-up from here, with even one more loss, would force them to rely heavily on other results and hope for favorable net run rate calculations, a risky proposition considering their current poor NRR of -1.103.
Given the tight competition in the top half of the table, where Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru already sit on 12 points, and teams like Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are closely following, SRH’s path is extremely narrow.
Even with their Maldives break to recharge, the 2016 champions will need a near-miraculous turnaround consistent match-winning performances, major improvements in both batting and bowling, and perhaps a bit of luck to salvage their season.
