In the opening match of this series, India crushed the Bangladesh side and successfully chased down a target of 128 in a mere 11.5 overs at Gwalior. The right-arm fast bowler Mayank Yadav and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy made their debuts for India in the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. While Mayank made an impression by claiming a wicket on debut, Reddy was rather costly in his spell and struggled to make an impression with the bat as well, unlike his performances in the IPL. Both of them however could be given a break for the match on Wednesday in Delhi which will feature Suryakumar’s side already leading 1-0 in the series after defeating Bangladesh in Gwalior during the first T20I match by seven wickets.
So far, India and Bangladesh in T20’s have played each other 15 times. Out of which, the former have clearly bullied the latter 14 out of the 15 encounters.
To speak of the mood of the team playing in that format of the game recently, the hosts have won all their last five matches. The Indian team could bring in a few new players with Mayank and Reddy making room for Tilak Varma and Harshit who is going to make his debut.
India’s skipper Suryakumar Yadav had been talking about Mayank’s workload management recently. Former fast bowler RP Singh who was a member of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 also supported Suryakumar’s viewpoint.
“Work load is a talk load which everybody talks about too much-bowl less, but my take is less of them (going to the gym). He had a good first mound after coming back from injury where he bowled in IPL.
“Speed is certainly a crucial factor, which he possesses, however there also has to be a sharpening of his skills and there has to be a way towards it. He has to do it by himself with the assistance of the NCA as well as other BCCI coaches,” he said.
In the other case however, it is understood that Sanju Samson is set to retain his position in the playing XI at the top of the order after his 19 ball 29 runs innings in Gwalior.
India Predicted XI: Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (capt), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy
