Winning start for Kisii School as Kisii County Rugby 15s Schools Championships kick off

The Kisii County Rugby 15s Schools Championships kicked off in thrilling fashion at Kisii School, with the defending champions setting the early pace.

Kisii School, who are also the reigning East African champions, began their title defense with a hard-fought 13-5 victory over Cardinal Otunga in a tightly contested opening match.

The hosts showed composure under pressure, relying on disciplined defense and clinical finishing to secure the win. Cardinal Otunga, however, responded strongly later in the day, bouncing back with a commanding 17-0 victory over Rioma Boys to keep their campaign on track.

Kerongorori Boys emerged as one of the standout sides of Day One, registering an emphatic 22-0 win over Hema Senior before grinding out an 8-0 victory against Tendere Boys.

Borangi Boys also enjoyed a perfect start, defeating Sameta 14-0 before following up with a 10-0 win against Nyanchwa Boys. Elsewhere, Gesero Boys secured a disciplined 12-0 victory over Nyabigena Boys in a match characterized by structured play and strong tackling.

In the girls’ category, Nyabisase Girls delivered the most dominant performance of the day with a 22-0 win over Kereri Girls. Borangi Girls edged Mesabakwa 7-0 in a closely fought encounter, while Mesabakwa later recovered to defeat Gesero Girls by the same 7-0 margin.
