We talked to Aaron Gwin, the owner of Windrock Bike Park in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, and Donny Jackson, who puts on the races at Fontana, California, to see how their races are shaping up for this weekend.
Windrock Bike Park is expecting snow or freezing rain this weekend, with high temperatures in the low 30s. Aaron Gwin said he is going to close Windrock Bike Park for this weekend. “I think we’re going to reschedule the race for next weekend if weather permits,” Aaron told Mountain Bike Action.
When we spoke with James McAllister (Aaron Gwin’s race mechanic, who works at the park) early Friday afternoon, the races at Windrock were still planned to be held this weekend, but he told us that those plans could change, and if they did, Windrock would announce the news later this afternoon on their Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/windrockbikepark/.
The announcement appeared at around 5:50 PM, Eastern Time, on the park’s Instagram page:
Gwin mentioned that the Windrock Park shuttle trucks would have a hard a time driving on the access road in the park if it’s icy, and that is what is expected to be the case this weekend.
