It is a turn of history that this Women’s T20 World Cup will have its maiden edition in the UAE, having been relocated from Bangladesh due to political unrest following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. The defending champions of Australia will launch their campaign on October 5, facing the reigning Asia Cup Champions, Sri Lanka, in Sharjah.

According to the revised fixtures that came out on Monday, it is going to be a congested itinerary between Dubai and Sharjah. India’s campaign will open on October 4 with a match against New Zealand in Dubai. To add to the excitement, India is going to lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in an afternoon game on October 6 in Dubai, followed by a high-voltage encounter against Australia on October 13 in Sharjah, a replay of the 2022 semi-final.

This is a 10-team event that includes heavyweights like Australia, India, England, and the West Indies. Several teams, including England and the West Indies, will make their first appearance in the UAE. Thereafter, Group B will not be less lethal, as South Africa—the finalists in 2022—will face England in Sharjah on October 7.

Semi-finals are slated to take place on October 17 in Dubai, and on October 18 in Sharjah, with the final happening on the 20th of the same month in Dubai. All the semifinals and final matches had a backup reserve day, which would come into play if there happened to be any delays. It was another Scotland along with Sri Lanka that came up through the qualifiers to set up what would be an enthralling contest against the desert backdrop of the UAE.
