World Rankings Shaken Up After the 2026 Singapore Smash: Who Wins, Who Rises, Who Surprises!

The WTT Singapore Smash 2026 has officially upended the ITTF World Rankings. While the singles crowns stayed in familiar hands, the doubles categories saw a historic “changing of the guard,” and several stars reached heights never before seen in their careers.

The Lebrun Dynasty: New World No. 1 in Doubles

The headline of the week belongs to Alexis and Félix Lebrun. By becoming the first French players to win a Grand Smash title—defeating Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng 3–0—they have officially ascended to World No. 1 in Men’s Doubles (+2 spots).

🇸🇪 Truls Möregårdh: The New World No. 2

Sweden’s Truls Möregårdh is officially the best-ranked non-Chinese player in the world. After a clinical run to the semifinals (where he was narrowly stopped by Lin Yun-Ju), Truls has jumped 3 spots to a career-best World No. 2. He overtakes Hugo Calderano, who had held the spot for just three weeks.

🇰🇷 Ryu Hanna & Kim Nayeong Take the Throne

A new era has begun in Women’s Doubles. Ryu Hanna and Kim Nayeong are the new World No. 1s (+1). Despite a quarterfinal exit in Singapore, their consistent dominance over the last year—including a title in Chennai earlier this season—allowed them to capitalize on the absence of the previous top seeds.

📈 The “Smash” Effect: Massive Moves

The Singapore area was a launchpad for several other players:

Jang Woojin (KOR): Moves up to World No. 10 (+3) after a strong quarterfinal showing.

Sabine Winter (GER): After her “giant-killing” run to the semifinals, she hits a career-high World No. 11 (+4).

Chen Yi (CHN): Reached the quarterfinals and climbs to a career-best World No. 8.

Patrick Franziska (GER): His stunning upset over Tomokazu Harimoto propels him back toward the elite at World No. 17 (+6).
