Former India opener Sanjay Manjrekar criticizes Virat Kohli after getting out on a full toss from Santner during the 1st innings of the 2nd Test in Pune.
Kohli came to the crease on Day 2 of the second Test against New Zealand, looking to help revive India’s chances with his batting. However, after facing just 8 balls, he was bowled by Mitchell Santner. With only 1 run from 9 balls, Kohli had to take the blame for his poor shot selection against Santner.
Virat Kohli’s dismissal led to a critical comment from former India opener Sanjay Manjrekar, who tweeted on X that it was the worst shot of Kohli’s career.
“Oh dear! Virat will know himself that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. Got to feel for him…coz as always he came out with solid & honest intent, “Manjrekar posted on X after kohli’s dismissal.

India are struggling at 107-7 at the end of the 1st session
After winning the toss on Day 1 of the second Test, New Zealand scored 259 runs, with Rachin and Conway making 65 and 76 runs, respectively. Santner added 33 runs to the total. Sundar made a fantastic comeback after three years away from international cricket, as he took 7 wickets, while Ashwin chipped in with 3 wickets.
India had a shaky start, losing Rohit Sharma early and finishing Day 1 at 16-1. During the morning session of Day 2, they lost Shubman Gill for 30 runs, Virat Kohli for just 1 run, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for 30. The team struggled to hold on to their wickets and ended the first session at 107-7, with Santner taking 4 wickets and Phillips claiming 2 wickets .
Having already lost the first match of the series in Bengaluru, India cannot afford to lose the second Test against New Zealand.
