Despite the team being put on redundancy notice last year, Three Fields continues to support Wreckreation with new updates thanks to Patreon support.
Following weeks of testing by Patreon members, Wreckreation has introduced a new drifting physics model in its ninth major patch update.
The revamped physics make drift entry “more consistent across all cars” and remove the delay after counter-steering when exiting a drift. This doesn’t overwrite the previous physics, however, as players can switch between the two physics models in the ‘Mix My Car’ menu.
Cars are also less likely to rollover when drifting on downward slopes on Sky Tracks, while applying the brake or handbrake will now have a “larger slowing effect” during drifts.
Alongside the revamped drifting physics, the update also adds over 30 new liveries created by the community and allows for larger Sky Tracks to be uploaded.
Last December, Three Fields Entertainment announced that staff were put on redundancy notice after losing financial support from publisher THQ Nordic.
Since then, the team has launched a Patreon campaign to secure additional funding and continue supporting the game with updates and new content. At the time of writing, the campaign has nearly 1,000 members and generates over £2,100 per month.
A video shared last year previewed several features planned for future updates, including an Accident Blackspot mode inspired by Burnout’s beloved Crash mode.
Wreckreation update nine patch notes
Drifting
Our new Drifting Model, thoroughly tested and loved by our Patreon players, is now available to all players (switch to it in Mix My Car)
We’ve also made the following Additional Drift Improvements (for those who were already playing it).
⁃ Drift entry is now more consistent across all cars
⁃ Drift exit is less “sticky”, meaning there isn’t a big delay right at the end of counter-steering before actually exiting
⁃ Drift transitions have been improved
⁃ Cars are much less likely to roll over (even part way) when drifting over the start of a downward slope on Sky Tracks
⁃ Braking and Handbraking now have a larger slowing effect while drifting
Liveries
- The Motorhead, Headbanger, Vagabond, Hauler, Powerslave, Mulsanne, Cigarello and Bison all have new liveries created by Wreckreation player ‘Biggie’ – 34 new liveries in total
- Thanks to another Wreckreation player KekAnTing the cop cars now have county alternate liveries available via Customise My Car.
Other Fixes and Improvements
- We’ve upgraded the Boost system on the Huntsville Hauler and Maiden Manhattan cars (and their Wreckoning versions) so they can carry 95% of their top speed when boosting offroad (to match other cars in the Offroad class).
- We’ve fixed barrel rolls being limited to 1 roll on keyboard controls
- Finally, last not very much not least – SkyTracks have been optimised allowing for larger tracks to be uploaded.
