WWE Director Dies At 75 » TWNP-Wrestling News

It was with sadness that we report that veteran WWE Director Kerwin Silfies passes away.  He died at the age of 75 in Florida on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Kerwin Silfies was a Technical Director with WWE for almost four decades. He would “ready” and “take” camera shots for many iconic moments under the leadership of Kevin Dunn. He’s been there during the rise of Hulkamania through the Attitude Era and well into John Cena’s long run with the WWE. Kerwin Silfies was the inspiration behind Chavo Guerrero’s Kerwin White character. However, the Kerwin White persona was dropped when Chavo’s uncle, Eddie Guerrero, tragically passed away. Our thoughts go out to Kerwin Silfies’ family, friends, and co-workers.

Kerwin Silfies Passes Away: Cause of Death Undetermined

The exact cause of death of Kerwin Silfies has yet to be disclosed. However, loved ones told the wrestling media that the famed WWE Director had been dealing with some health issues privately for quite some time.

Kerwin Silfies’ WWE Legacy

Kerwin Silfies set the standard for a Technical Director in WWE. The steady-handed production member was responsible for those dramatic fades during an Undertaker entrance or the quick cuts during a Shield ambush. He is responsible for many memories WWE fans have, and a lot of their disdain for certain WWE tropes (such as the shaky camera cuts).

Kerwin Silfies ‘ life behind the cameras was a closed book. He rarely appeared on television, although he was a talking head in the Peacock original: WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle.

Kerwin Siflies was a long-tenured employee at WWE. He was there for the first WrestleMania, Raw, and even the first Saudi Arabia event. It shocked the world when WWE fourloughed Kerwin Silfies during the COVID-19 pandemic. WWE chose not to bring Kerwin back on the road, replacing him with veteran cameraman Marty Miller.

Was Kerwin White Named After WWE Director Kerwin Silfies?

Most infamously, Kerwin Silfies is known to the WWE Universe due to Chavo Guerrero’s portrayal of Kerwin White. It’s been stated that Vince McMahon came up with this character as Kerwin Silfies was one of the whitest people the WWE Chairman knew. Chavo Guerrero dropped the Kerwin White persona within a few months.

He reverted to Chavito after his Los Guerreros partner, Eddie Guerrero, passed away. While Kerwin White’s persona didn’t last long, he did introduce the WWE Universe to Chavo’s caddy, Nic Nemeth (the future Dolph Ziggler).
