Drew McIntyre may be heading into WrestleMania 42 as Undisputed WWE Champion — but if the latest update is accurate, he won’t be defending the title in a one-on-one match.
After reports noted that McIntyre could hold the championship through WrestleMania and potentially face Cody Rhodes again on the grand stage, a new report suggests WWE is going in a completely different direction.
Speaking during a Q&A session on February 23, 2026, WrestleVotes revealed that the current internal plan for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 is anything but a singles match.
“At this point, it’s shaping up to be anything but a singles match. The expectation is a five-pack or even a six-pack challenge.”
WrestleVotes didn’t stop there. They also named potential participants who could be added to the WrestleMania mix.
“It’s wild to think that Aleister Black, Jacob Fatu, and Sami Zayn could all be part of the WWE Title match at WrestleMania. Whether it’s a four-man, five-man, or even six-man, but certainly won’t be a one-on-one match.”
If that plan holds, WrestleMania 42 could feature one of the most stacked Undisputed WWE Championship matches in recent memory. A five-pack or six-pack challenge would significantly lower the odds for McIntyre to walk out still holding gold — especially with top-tier names potentially entering the fray.
Of course, WrestleMania season is known for last-minute pivots. But as of now, the expectation inside WWE is clear: the Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42 won’t be one-on-one.
