Yashasvi Jaiswal looks to break this monumental feat in the upcoming Duleep trophy tournament

On Thursday (September 5), Star Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will be playing for India B in Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India A. M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host the match between Jaiswal’s side and the side led by Shubman Gill, where the 22-year-old left-handed batter will have a chance to make history as first batter to hit three double centuries in the tournament.

Jaiswal, who made his Test debut for India against West Indies last year at Dominica, has scored two double centuries so far while playing for West Zone in three Duleep Trophy matches. Both of his double centuries came during the 2022 version of this prestigious domestic tournament.

Jaiswal did make 228 runs from the 321 balls he faced in the quarterfinal match versus North East Zone that was held at Chennai (the 8th to 11th day of September). He went on to complete a total of 265 runs from a total of 323 balls faced during the final match against South Zone that took place at Coimbatore (21st September – 25th September).

Only six batters have twice scored double centuries in Duleep Trophy history. Arun Lal was the first batter to achieve this milestone when he managed scores of 214 and 287 in east zone for the year 1986 edition. In 1987, Lalchand Rajput joined him in this club after batting for the west zone against the central zone with an impressive score of 275 runs. The first double-century he made while playing with the west zone came up about the north zone back in 1985 season where it was 221.
