Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the first test? Reports make a big claim

Over the past few years, Yashasvi Jaiswal has developed into a successful player for the Indian cricket team and is likely to participate in first Test match against Bangladesh commencing Thursday at Chennai. However, according to a report on Sportstar, Jaiswal has been struggling against fast bowling during the net session held on Monday at M Chidambaram Stadium. The report stated that Jaiswal looked quite predicament against both Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah as the young boy continued to miss deliveries outside the off-stump. Meanwhile, it was said he looked easy versus spin bowlers and made use of his sweep shot nicely for combating them.

Nevertheless, Indian captain Rohit Sharma who will face Bangladesh in their very first two-match Test series, scheduled to start from Chennai on Thursday is looking forward to some milestones.

The first match of this two-test series will start on September 19th in MA Chidambaram Stadium located in Chennai city. Afterward, the second match which will be played in longer format starts on 27th September at Kanpur. In his first Test assignment, head coach Gautam Gambhir’s objective would be winning the series by any means necessary.

As for now, the Indian captain has had a good run up to October 2023 in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 by scoring 700 runs off nine matches and 16 innings with an average of 46.66 including three centuries and three fifties. The highest score he has attained is 131. This competition has seen him register as the 12th highest run scorer so far.

Rohit must look for two milestones in this series. Upon achieving the first one, he will be cemented as the greatest six-hitter that ever was in Indian cricket history. In Tests, Rohit among top six hitters in terms of number of sixes ranks eleventh with 84 sixes. To become team’s greatest six hitter in Test cricket Rohit needs only eight more big hits to overtake legendary Virender Sehwag who hit 91 sixes.

The list of top three sixes in the world includes England’s Ben Stokes (131), Brendon McCullum from New Zealand who was a former wicketkeeper-batsman (107) and Adam Gilchrist from Australia who also used to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman (100).

In case Rohit starts hitting big sixes during these two games then he might as well become the fourth overall and first Indian batsman to hit 100 sixes in Tests.
