India’s cricketing stars continue to shine brightly on the global stage, and the latest ICC rankings highlight their dominance. Leading the charge is young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal, who climbed to the second spot in the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings following a match-winning century against Australia.
Jaiswal’s Heroics in Perth
Jaiswal’s Stellar Performance Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the spotlight with an impressive 161 runs in the second innings against Australia. This remarkable performance helped India secure a commanding 295-run victory in the first Test of the ICC World Test Championship series. As a result, Jaiswal climbed two places to reach a career-best second position in the ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings, trailing only England’s Joe Root.
This milestone marks another chapter in Jaiswal’s meteoric rise. Speaking about his achievement, he said, “It’s always been my dream to contribute to my team’s victories. This is just the beginning.”
Bumrah Reclaims Number 1 Spot
Alongside Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the top position in the ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings. Following his outstanding performance against Australia, where he took eight wickets, Bumrah achieved a career-best rating of 883 points. This marks his third time at the top of the rankings this year.
However, Jaiswal and Bumrah aren’t the only Indians making waves. Virat Kohli returned to form with his 30th Test century, climbing nine spots to 13th in the rankings. The former captain’s resurgence adds depth to an already formidable batting lineup.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj climbed three places to 25th after an impressive five-wicket haul in Perth. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin remain the top two Test all-rounders despite not playing in the opener against Australia.
Global Rankings Update
Outside of India, other stars also made their mark. West Indies pacers Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach, and Alzarri Joseph rose in the Test bowling rankings after a dominant display against Bangladesh.
In addition to the Test rankings, there were significant changes in the ODI rankings. Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi lost his top spot as ODI bowler to Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan after being rested for matches against Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub entered the top 100 ODI batters following an explosive century against Zimbabwe
