At the house show, Trick Williams also put his United States Championship on the line against Carmelo Hayes. The two former best friends left it all in the ring, with Williams retaining his title. Following the contest, Hayes and Williams received a standing ovation from the audience for their performance in the ring. In a recent Twitter post, Cory Hays of False Finish noted,
“Hearing that Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes had one hell of a match at #WWELiverpool with a standing ovation from the crowd.”
Williams On The Gingerbread Man WWE Angle
On the Road to WrestleMania 42, The Anointed One was involved in a feud with Sami Zayn. During the rivalry, Trick Williams was put in a Gingerbread Man storyline to take shots at Zayn. In the end, Williams emerged victorious over Zayn to secure the United States Championship.
Trick Williams recently appeared on the “Battleground” podcast. During the chat, the WWE SmackDown star opened up about the gingerbread diss track. Williams said,
“It was dope. Working with yachty, he loves the business. Any time somebody loves the business like that, it gets me fired up. We sit and brainstorm for hours on how we’re going to do this and that. No ego involved. We’re going to put out the best work possible, and we’re going to put out diss tracks and different things.”
“The gingerbread diss track, it was a throwaway line that became something much bigger than I ever anticipated being. Hopefully, I didn’t lose too much of my ginger audience. I have nothing against gingers. It was just to poke fun at Sami Zayn. I had to. He deserved it.”
