2027 NFL Draft Prospect Watchlist: Quarterbacks

2027 NFL Draft Prospect Watchlist: Quarterbacks

The 2026 NFL Draft is over and teams are getting comfortable with their new draft picks. The next class of players is getting prepared now for another year of college football. Each position will be analyzed in the coming days. Here is the 2027 NFL Draft prospect watchlist: Quarterbacks.

CJ Carr, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Carr was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Notre Dame out of Michigan. He didn’t play in his first season, then took over the reins of the offense in 2025. He passed for 2,741 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions on 66.6 percent completion in his first year as a starter. Carr led the Fighting Irish to a 10-2 record, reeling off ten wins to end the season.

While he isn’t the biggest quarterback, Carr has adequate size for the position. He is a decent athlete who can make plays out of structure when necessary. Carr stands in vs. pressure and shows good accuracy. He manipulates defenders with his eyes as well. His arm talent is not elite and he can have too much faith in his arm at times. Another good season could help Carr be a first-round pick in a draft that appears to have plenty of good options.

Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns

Manning was a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 who signed with Texas out of Louisiana. He played sparingly in his first two seasons on campus. In that time, he passed for 969 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. Manning took over as the starter in 2025. He passed for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 61.4 percent completion. He led the Longhorns to a nine-win regular season and more is expected in 2025.

At 6-foot-4 and 226 pounds, Manning has good size for the position to go along with his family pedigree. He has good arm talent and solid accuracy, most of the time. His athleticism is solid and he has plenty of experience running RPOs. His mechanics were off and there were rumors of an injury last year that threw off his game early in 2025, but he finished the season strong. He can play with more anticipation, but that can come with more experience.

Dante Moore, Oregon Ducks

Moore was a five-star prospect in the class of 2023 who signed with UCLA out of Michigan. He played with mixed results as a freshman for the Bruins, but then decided to transfer. He sat behind Dillon Gabriel at Oregon for a season before stepping into a starting role with the Ducks in 2025. He passed for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 71.8 percent completion.

While he is 6-foot-3, Moore can add more to his frame. Moore can make plays out of structure and has a quick release. He is accurate, specifically to the first two levels of a defense. Moore doesn’t have the greatest arm strength and has shown some struggles under pressure. He could’ve gone pro for the 2026 NFL Draft, but decided to go back to Oregon to continue working on his game.

Julian Sayin, Ohio State Buckeyes

Sayin was a five-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Ohio State out of California (after a short stop at Alabama). He played sparingly on Ohio State’s national championship team in 2024. In 2025, he started for the Buckeyes, passing for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 77 percent completion. He helped the Buckeyes make the CFP before they fell to Miami.

At 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds, Sayin is undersized for an NFL quarterback. He also doesn’t have the greatest arm strength for the position. Sayin does have good accuracy for all three levels of the field. He protects the ball and can evade pressure in the pocket. With Jeremiah Smith at his disposal for a second season, more will be expected of Sayin in 2026.

LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina Gamecocks

Sellers was a three-star prospect in the class of 2023, who signed with the Gamecocks to stay in-state. He didn’t play much in 2023, but then passed for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 65.8 percent completion. Sellers also rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2025, he totaled 2,437 passing yards, 270 rushing yards, 18 total touchdowns and eight interceptions on 60.8 percent completion. While South Carolina showed promise in 2024, they did not make a bowl game in 2025.

He stands at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, which is great size for the position. Sellers has great arm strength and also has the ability to make plays out of structure. He evades pressure and picks up extra yardage with his legs on designed runs. His accuracy needs work and so too does his willingness to stay in the pocket and make throws. More development as a quarterback is needed, but the physical tools Sellers has are great.

Other Draft Prospects

CJ Bailey, NC State Wolfpack

Bailey is a two-year starter for NC State that may be a bit held back by the offense he played in. He has too much faith in his arm at times, but has solid arm talent that could help him have another big season.

Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss Rebels

Chambliss was granted an extra year of eligibility and decided to use it even though he likely would’ve been at least a mid-round pick. He can make plays out of structure and has a strong arm, but sometimes decides who he is throwing to before the snap and will be an older prospect.

Sam Leavitt, LSU Tigers

Leavitt is transferring from Arizona State to LSU for the 2025 season. He is a solid athlete who isn’t afraid to take shots downfield. Leavitt doesn’t have the greatest arm strength and will need to get through his progressions faster to really show more NFL potential.

Drake Lindsey, Minnesota Golden Gophers

Lindsey has the size and arm strength desired for NFL quarterbacks, as he stands at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds and can make most throws asked of him. He is not mobile and will have to work on his ability to handle pressure to improve his stock.

Jayden Maiava, USC Trojans

Maiava has nice arm strength and also stands at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. He is a decent athlete who can layer balls in between zone coverage. Maiava trusts his receivers a bit too much on 50/50 balls and needs to go through more full-field reads.

Darian Mensah, Miami Hurricanes

Mensah has gone from Tulane to Duke and now on to Miami. He has good accuracy to the first two levels of a defense and protects the football. Mensah recognizes coverages and throws to the correct receiver. Mensah can feel pressure sooner and show improved deep ball mechanics and placement.

Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State Cowboys

Mestemaker didn’t even start in high school, but played well enough at North Texas to move on up to Oklahoma State this season. He has solid arm strength and a nice deep ball. While he goes through progressions well, he needs to do it on a more consistent basis. If he can clean up his mechanics and show a bit more accuracy underneath, his stock could sore.

Brendan Sorsby, Texas Tech Red Raiders

Sorsby had success at Cincinnati and transferred to Texas Tech this offseason. He is currently undergoing rehab for gambling addiction, so he may not suit up for the Red Raiders. If he does, he will bring a good athlete with a strong arm. He needs to take checkdowns at times and show better pre and post-snap recognition.
