3 talented cricketers who missed the playing XI of the first round of Duleep Trophy

The first round of the Duleep Trophy started on Thursday. This event is the kickoff for the upcoming domestic season. A few senior Indian players are also a part of this tournament. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three talented cricketers who missed the playing XI of the first round of the Duleep Trophy.

1) Tilak Varma

The Mumbai Indians batter was expected to feature in the playing XI for India A. However, he was not given a spot in the side.

For a player of his calibre and all-format abilities, it is disappointing to spend time on the bench. India needs a good left-handed middle-order batter for Tests and Tilak is surely an option for the future.

2) Vidwath Kaverappa

Vidwath Kaverappa is one of the talented cricketers who missed the playing XI of the first round of the Duleep Trophy. Firstly, it was unfortunate that the talented player was selected in the India A squad. This team already has Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep.

Vidwath is one of the best pacers in Ranji Trophy in the recent years. Therefore, it is a bit unfortunate for him that he failed to get a spot in the side. However, he will still have a chance in the upcoming rounds.

3) Saurabh Kumar

Before Axar Patel made his Test debut, Saurabh Kumar was a part of the Indian Team as the backup spinner. However, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer could not make his debut. After Axar’s rise, it was hard for him to make a comeback.

In the recent India A games, Saurabh was in good form. Hence, he was expected to be a part of the spin attack for the team in the Duleep Trophy. However, it seems the management has different plans in mind and hence, he was not selected.
