As per a few reports, there might not be an RTM card for the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. A few teams might not like this move. The core of the squad is sure to get disrupted. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams which could suffer the most if there is no RTM for IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Mumbai Indians
Although they finished last in IPL 2024, the core of MI is still the strongest in the IPL. They have top Indian cricketers and they need not depend on their overseas names if the Indians start doing well.
However, all of this could go for a toss due to the reported rule by BCCI. Therefore, we could see the likes of Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir and Nehal Wadhera all playing for different outfits. It will be a great loss for Mumbai after grooming them for a while.
2) Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR is one of the teams which could suffer the most if there is no RTM for IPL 2025 Auctions. The Kolkata-based outfit won IPL 2024 and one of the main reasons for their success is their domestic core. However, that could get disturbed before the next season.
There are quite a few cricketers who are really good but may not be worthy of retention before a Mega Auction. Now, without RTM, KKR might lose such cricketers. Ramandeep Singh is a good example of this.
3) Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals have a lot of players who might not warrant retention before a Mega Auction but are still required for the side. Such players are key to the balance of the side.
The likes of Sandeep Sharma, Trent Boult and Shimron Hetmyer fall in this regard. Even Yuzvendra Chahal could have been an RTM target. Now, all these players are on a level playing field and hence, RR might not get them.
