5 minutes with…Bill Taylor of CycleTrac

CycleTrac has been developed as a bicycle security measure, with the brand initially specialising in motorcycle security. Now, they want to work with big brands of electric bikes to help people keep their pride and joys safe. We caught up with Bill Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director to see how things are going.

Tell us about the story behind CycleTrac, how did it come about/what motivated you to start the brand?

We have specialised in motorcycle security since 2009, like motorcycles, E-Bikes are people’s pride and joy, they generally own one because they love them and want them opposed to a car for example which is more of a tool. We met Pasq through a joint connection at Ducati motorcycles. At the time he was UK Sales Manager for Bianchi and felt there was a need for our services within the bicycle market.. Working with him and having some very keen cyclists in the business we developed CycleTrac but honed our focus on the growing E-Bike sector, due to the style of bikes and an available power supply.. All of our products are Secured by Design, a Police accreditation scheme, which means the Police have approved our product and are able to talk about it.

  • Our USP to other tracking devices available;
  • We combine GPS and RF, this allows us to locate down to 1 meter
  • Relationship with the Police
  • 24/7 monitored service
  • Designed and made in the UK

You recently launched a dealer network in the UK, how is that going?

Very strong in a challenging marketplace, we are looking for a niche in a small market. Our route to market is via the dealers, not selling direct to the end user. This way we do not advertise the device and our customer can be assured of a professional and very discreet install. No, sadly not sharing where or how they install…

How successful have you found the app to be in recovering stolen e-bikes?

We have already had some recoveries mainly in the London area, as a company we have never dropped below 90% recovery rate, we are realistic that although tracking is very effective a layered approach to security is very important.

Will you be looking to work with additional motor suppliers in the future? If so, whom?

We chose the 4 big ones to start with, Bosch – Brose – Yamaha – Shimano, the next on our list are Bafang / Fazua / TQ and DJI

What plans has CycleTrac got for the remainder of 2026 and beyond?

Grow our brand awareness and support as many E-Bike customers as we can.
