With Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s PlayStation 5 release just one week away, Genki has announced several new features will coincide with the console launch.
Teased earlier this week, the PS5 version will launch with three additional cars: the first-generation Honda Fit (known in some markets as the Jazz), Mazda CX-3 and a Toyota Dyna truck. “Select traffic vehicles” will also be playable in the new version.
Additionally, the PS5 version will launch with a replay mode, music selector and optimisations, including PS5 Pro enhancements and DualSense controller support, alongside Spanish and French localisation options. These new features will also be added to the PC version in future updates, with dates yet to be announced.
More cars planned beyond PS5 release
Furthermore, Genki confirmed that Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s car roster will continue to expand beyond the PS5 release. “While the scale of vehicle additions is limited, we will continue development efforts with future expansions in mind,” the developer wrote on social media.
Last year, Genki confirmed in a Reddit AMA that it was “negotiating with international car brands.” Previous games in the series have featured manufacturers such as Ford, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, suggesting that Western manufacturers may join Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s car roster in the future.
“Since the release of the Steam version, we have received a great deal of feedback, requests, and warm support. On behalf of the entire development team, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude,” Genki wrote.
“Whether you are playing on PlayStation 5 for the first time or have already experienced the game on Steam, we hope you will enjoy this new version of Tokyo Xtreme Racer.”

Tokyo Xtreme Racer PS5 release date and price
Tokyo Xtreme Racer releases on PS5 on 25th February 2026, marking the series return to PlayStation for the first time in nearly 20 years.
The digital version will cost £39.99 / $49.99 on the PlayStation Store, with a physical release only in Asia. Genki says that the physical version’s availability has “not yet been determined.”
