The April 10 episode of WWE SmackDown was an important one on the road to WrestleMania. San Jose fans packed the arena and a lot of them were sick and tired of Pat McAfee already.
During last week’s SmackDown, Pat McAfee showed up and kicked Cody Rhodes in the balls. He cut a furious promo on promo wrestling right after that, and the entire pro wrestling world was up in arms about that.
This week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes had a chance to speak out after he let a week go by. First off, Pat McAfee came out to cut a promo for fans, and they weren’t happy to see him.
Pat McAfee brought up CM Punk, and what he said on RAW about him. Then McAfee said that it was hard for him to get over the fact that Punk was wearing so much CM Punk merchandise as he spoke about ticket prices. Pat wondered if CM Punk’s royalty checks went to needy families who can’t afford WrestleMania tickets, or if it goes into one that says, “I’m sorry Saudi Arabia.”
That was a brutal shot from Pat McAfee as he continued shooting on CM Punk. Pat called himself a man of action and “agent of change.” McAfee then announced that WWE will be selling WrestleMania tickets for 25% off until the end of RAW next week. He said that WrestleMania Sunday is going to suck, but Saturday will see Randy Orton win his 15th WWE World Championship on Saturday night.
At that point, Cody Rhodes came out to interrupt Pat McAfee. Cody said that McAfee doesn’t belong in WWE. He also brought up how Nick Aldis told him that nobody can touch McAfee in a physical way. Cody started railing on McAfee for last week, and he brought up how McAfee is a “play wrestler,” and fans are “family,” not marks or customers.
Then Cody Rhodes told Pat McAfee that he has a gift, because everyone in the WWE Universe wants to see Randy Orton at WrestleMania, but they don’t want to see Pat McAfee. He told McAfee to “go home,” and he left after raising his title up high. McAfee said he is home, he was born to be in the business, but Cody was born into the business with a silver spoon in his mouth. He called Cody fake with his lisp, $10k suit, fake teeth, and dyed hair. McAfee then said Cody is a “cosplay champion,” one that he plans to rid from WWE.
At that point, Pat McAfee declared that if Randy Orton doesn’t walk out of WrestleMania as a 15-time World Champion, then we will never see or hear McAfee in the pro wrestling business ever again. Fnas chanted, “go home, Pat,” and he gave them the finger. Cody asked McAfee if he’s too high to remember that he spent years on the commentary table, and then he suggested to bring GUNTHER out to put him to sleep once and for all.
As Cody Rhodes left, Pat asked where he was going, as he has always been an “elite runaway.” He asked if he’s going to “suck Triple H’s ass.” Then Cody turned to get back in the ring, but Randy Orton appeared on the screen over Jelly Roll, who was lying out backstage. Randy threatened to bring Jelly Roll out to him, which he did. Pat McAfee ran his mouth to Cody, and then Orton ran down to jump the American Nightmare for a beatdown just 8 days before they collide at WrestleMania.
