NBA World Champions – Diamond Notes by Joe Boesch

NBA World Champions – Diamond Notes by Joe Boesch

After 53 years, the Knicks finally are World Champions.

Being a New Yorker, it’s great to finally see the them win it all, since the last team was NYFC when they won the 2021 MLS Cup. Here’s the breakdown of the last New York Championships:

NFL: New York Giants, Super Bowl XLVI (2012)MLB: New York Yankees, World Series (2009)MLS: New York City FC, MLS Cup (2021)NHL: New York Rangers, Stanley Cup (1994)

As I write about baseball and cards, the Knicks have their own Topps Now cards, which are pretty cool and tell their story of their World Championship season. Here’s the story on Jalen Brunson:

Jalen Brunson reached deep into his bag to lead the New York Knicks to a 105-95 Game 1 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. The Knicks captain scored 30 points, capping his night with a dagger jumper that sealed the win with 38 seconds remaining. “I think we know what we have to do,” Brunson said postgame. “I think we’re a pretty together group.”

Until then, see you on the hardwood.
