Mustafa Ali isn’t holding back after a fan took a shot at him during the ongoing TNA–AEW indie match controversy, as he went nuclear on him.
After capturing the TNA International Championship at Rebellion, Mustafa Ali took to Twitter and threw out an open challenge, making it clear he wanted to face independent talent while also taking a shot at the locker room: “Open challenge to independent wrestlers across the world. And the TNA roster can kiss my ass.”
That tweet led to a fan taking shots at Ali, referencing the ongoing situation involving TNA pulling talent from indie matches against AEW-affiliated wrestlers—suggesting Ali’s challenge wasn’t as open as it sounded.
But that’s where things escalated. Ali returned to Twitter and unloaded on the criticism, making it clear he’s frustrated with how the situation is being pinned on him: “Listen, I am not happy with how events unfolded.”
He then addressed the backlash directly, calling out fans for targeting him over decisions he says weren’t his to make: “But you and other hoes trying to dunk on me for a decision not made by me and for actively trying to spotlight independent wrestlers?”
Ali didn’t hold back as he closed out his response, telling fans exactly where their frustration should be directed: “Get that passive aggressive b****** out of here. Direct your frustrations at the people involved with the situation, not the f****** wrestler that has always gone out of his way to bring others up.”
What started as a move to show off independent talent has now become part of a much bigger conversation about restrictions, cross-promotional tension, and who really controls these opportunities.
Ali’s message is clear—he’s not the one making the calls, and he’s not taking the heat for them. In the end, the TNA–AEW situation is already messy, and now it’s spilling directly onto talent—whether they’re involved in the decisions or not.
Do you think Mustafa Ali was right to fire back like this, or should he have handled it differently given the situation? Let us know your thoughts below.
