Liverpool will have to overturn a 2-0 deficit if they are to progress past Paris Saint-Germain and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds were comfortably beaten in the first leg in Paris last week, and they face a daunting task when welcoming the holders to Anfield this time around.

Arne Slot’s side did return to winning ways on Saturday, though, beating Fulham 2-0 in the Premier League.

The Dutchman will hope to see his side build on that result, but in the meantime it has emerged that Liverpool are interested in a Bundesliga defender.

As per TEAMtalk, Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race to sign RB Leipzig full-back David Raum.

The report claims that both Liverpool and United had scouts in attendance at Leipzig’s 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, with the two English sides watching two players.

Winger Yan Diomande is enjoying a fine debut season in the Bundesliga, having joined from Spanish side Leganes last summer, and both the Reds and the Red Devils are known to be interested in the Ivorian.

It is claimed, though, that the two Premier League clubs were also casting their eyes over Raum, 27, who primarily plays at left-back.

Liverpool are on the hunt for a new left-back following the news that Andy Robertson will depart Anfield at the end of the season, while Man United are said to be searching for a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

Raum joined Leipzig from fellow German side Hoffenheim in 2022 and has now made a total of 141 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The German has been in particularly impressive form this season, providing eight assists and scoring three goals.
