Conor
McGregor has reached a settlement with Artem Lobov
in a lawsuit regarding profits from the sale of the Proper No. 12
whiskey brand, according to a report from the Irish Independent.
McGregor, along with partners Audie Attar and Ken Austin, sold
their majority share of the whiskey brand for $600 milion in 2021.
Lobov was
was initially suing for five percent of the revenue from the
sale. McGregor admitted to offering Lobov $1 million — which was
declined — but denied making an agreement with his teammate
regarding a certain percentage of the sale. Lobov claimed that he
was the initial creator and co-founder of the whiskey and that he
was “muscled out” of the deal. McGregor reportedly made $100
million from the sale.
Moving Forward
Lobov’s attorney, Andrew Walker appeared in court on Wednesday and
announced that a settlement had been reached, so the suit no longer
needed to go to trial. Financial terms of the settlement were not
disclosed.
McGregor attorney Mark Lynam read a statement to the court on the
fighter’s behalf. “I want to thank him [Lobov] for his hard work
for my whiskey business,” the statement read. Lynam also stated
that McGregor was focused on his return to fighting planned for
“this summer.”
Lobov declined to speak to the media at length but he did confirm
that he was “happy with the resolution.” McGregor and Lobov were
friends and training partners at SBG Ireland, but their
relationship became strained after Lobov filed the suit in 2022.
McGregor was
removed as the face of Proper No. 12 in 2024 after being found
liable for sexual assault.
McGregor has been rumored to make his long-awatied Octagon return
at UFC 329
on July 11, but nothing has been confirmed. The Dublin native
hasn’t fought since July 2021, when he broke his leg in a loss to
Dustin
Poirier at UFC 264. The former two-division champion was slated
to make his comeback against Michael
Chandler at UFC 303, but the “Notorious” one pulled out on the
week of the fight due to a broken toe.
