Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli touched base in Chennai ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. He boarded a direct flight from London to Chennai as the Indian team was reassembling for a mammoth home Test season. Kohli appeared at the Chennai airport under heavy police presence during the early hours of September 13, Friday. The 35-year-old had been in London with wife Anushka Sharma and children Vamika and Akaay Kohli, spending quality time with them away from India.
Kohli is slated to be back for national assignments after a break of more than a month from international cricket. He made an announcement of his retirement from T20I format just after the Indian cricket team lifted the T20 World Cup on June 29, 2012, in Barbados. However, upon his readmission into ODIs during India’s tour to Sri Lanka, he could not make an impact with bat but would like to contribute significantly towards the Indian side in this much-anticipated intercourse.
In Chennai, near the M Chidambaram Stadium, the Indian team would prepare for its trials before its series starts. Earlier this year, Kohli could not partake in the 5-match Test series because he was delivering his second child, Akaay.
