Assetto Corsa Rally: Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car confirmed for next update
  • Peugeot 306 II Maxi Kit Car set for AC Rally’s V0.4 build
  • Features same livery as François Delecour’s FIA European Historic Rally Championship car
  • Rally-specific number plates shown

Kunos Simulazioni and Supernova Games Studios have confirmed that the Peugeot 306 II Maxi Kit Car will be available to drive in Assetto Corsa Rally’s upcoming V0.4 update.

The F2 Kit Car category was extremely popular in ‘90s rallying, producing lightweight front-wheel-drive vehicles replete with screaming, naturally-aspirated engines.

The Peugeot was successful mainly in asphalt-based national championships in Western Europe, but it’s best known for its giant-killing performances on the world stage, claiming outright podiums twice in 1997 in the hands of Gilles Panizzi. Teammate François Delecour followed this up with second overall on 1998’s Tour de Corse, just behind Colin McRae’s Subaru Impreza WRC.

Delecour is campaigning a 306 in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship, coincidentally displaying the same livery as featured in AC Rally’s latest screenshots. The 63-year-old showed he hasn’t lost any of his speed over the weekend, winning the Historic Vltava Rallye by more than six minutes.

Players can emulate the flamboyant Frenchman in AC Rally’s forthcoming V0.4 Early Access build, which may also feature an ‘iconic’ ‘90s Subaru. The smart money is on this being a Group Impreza, seeing as it’s one of the most recognisable cars in rally history (especially in L555 BAT Colin McRae form).

In a Discord Community Q&A, as well as teasing two new cars, Game Director Irvin Zonca revealed that V0.4 would arrive in April, with a larger V0.5 update coming in June. Seeing as the Peugeot has been revealed now, we’d expect to see this in-game next week.

One other feature revealed by the latest teaser was the addition of rally-themed number plates, with the 306 displaying ‘Rally Alsace’ and ‘Rally Wales’ examples. This could also mean players can choose their own numbers, too.
