Tadej Pogacar pulled ahead of 19-year-old debutant Paul Sexias in the final climb to his third straight Liege-Bastogne-Liege, his fourth overall victory in the race. Pogacar cracking Sexias with 14km to ride of the 260km route through the Ardennes, halfway up the laste of 11 climbs along the route. Seixas came home 45 seconds later with Remco Evenepoel winning the sprint fore third place.
“It was a close call. I really wanted to give it my all, and that’s what I did. Tadej was stronger. I was already breaking at the top of the Redoute, my vision was blurry. I pulled through for him, telling myself we’d see.
We’re talking about maybe the best rider ever. Right now, I don’t have the level to beat him. I’m working to become the best. But you have to prove that step by step in races.”

“I really wanted do go all-out for this victory and not have any regrets afterwards. We made a plan to go from the Redoute. We wanted to have a teammate in front before, but that didn’t really work out. Still, I went, and it was a long, long way form there, but I managed to finish it off.”
